About this program

The Department of Handloom & Textiles, Government of Karnataka, introduced the Kaimagga Vikasa Yojana. Its purpose is to sustain and develop the handloom weaving abilities of current weavers while drawing younger individuals into the trade, thereby safeguarding Karnataka's handloom heritage. The programme assists both established and novice weavers by providing financial aid for acquiring new handlooms and related tools.

Covered equipment includes handlooms, electronic jacquards, pre-loom devices such as knotting machines, and warping machines. Through this effort, the state reinforces its dedication to preserving the traditional craft of handloom weaving, supporting its economic sustainability and cultural legacy for future generations.

How applications are assessed

District-level officials from the Handloom and Textile Department examine each application to confirm eligibility and check that the documents provided are genuine. Their review covers the applicant’s current work situation, membership records, and how essential the requested equipment is to their operations. For younger weavers, the authenticity of training certificates is a central point of verification, while applicants seeking warping machines must demonstrate relevant experience and adequate workspace.

After this scrutiny is completed successfully, the subsidy receives approval and is released in two separate instalments.
