- Application Review: The Admissions Committee assesses every submission. It seeks entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, strong potential for scalable ventures, and meaningful impact in youth mental wellbeing. Those who apply by the priority deadline receive preference.
- Interview: Candidates who advance past the initial review are invited to a 20-minute Zoom interview. During this session, they discuss their entrepreneurial background, the growth vision for their venture, and how their objectives align with the Enlight Fellowship's goals and resources.
- Final Selection & Enrollment: Final acceptance decisions are announced by July 20, 2026. Successful applicants must confirm their enrollment within a set period to reserve their place. The fellowship starts on August 17, 2026.
How applications are assessed
The Enlight Fellowship uses a multi-stage, competitive selection process. An Admissions Committee, made up of experts from the Watson Institute and the wider entrepreneurial community, first reviews all online applications. Candidates are judged on the originality of their solutions, the scalability of their ventures, and their potential to make a meaningful difference in youth mental wellbeing. The clarity of their vision and their dedication to the programme's aims are also given particular weight.
Those who advance are invited to a 20-minute interview on Zoom. In this session, applicants outline their entrepreneurial path, describe their venture's growth plans, and discuss how the fellowship fits with their own professional and personal development. The final decision rests on a comprehensive review of the application, the interview, and how well the candidate aligns with the fellowship's goal of backing impactful leaders.
Frequently asked questions
What do the in-person components entail?
Fellows must attend a mandatory one-week in-person Immersive in either Denver, Colorado, or Shanghai, China, which focuses on community building and core programme orientation. They are also expected to organise a Basecamp event locally, with training and a stipend provided, while optional regional meet-ups with other Fellows support ongoing networking.
What are the costs associated with this program (travel, fees, deposit, etc.)?
The programme covers all tuition and accommodation for the mandatory in-person Immersive in Denver or Shanghai, but Fellows pay for their own travel and some meals. No application, programme, or deposit fees are charged, so financial background does not affect eligibility.
What kind of solutions is the fellowship looking for?
The fellowship is open to leaders developing solutions—whether approaches, services, or technologies—that address critical youth mental wellbeing challenges, with a focus on scalable change. These solutions may target specific regions like China or have a broader global reach.
What is the expected time commitment for the fellowship?
Fellows commit 8–10 hours weekly over the 16-week programme, including mandatory virtual workshops on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in either the 10:00 AM–12:00 PM MT or 6:00 PM–8:00 PM MT time block. The commitment also covers community-building events, optional mentorship, Basecamp project planning and implementation, and final Summit preparation, with active engagement expected throughout.
Can international applicants apply?
Yes, the Enlight Fellowship is open to rising leaders worldwide, with the cohort deliberately including youth leaders working on youth mental wellbeing in China and those tackling global challenges. The programme’s international reach is reflected in its immersive locations in Denver, Colorado (USA) and Shanghai, China, which support cross-cultural collaboration.
What is the startup stage required for applicants?
Applicants must have businesses or organisations operating for 1 to 5 years, with engaged customers, measurable results, and some initial funding from grants, investments, donations, or earned revenue.
