About this program
The CARE COLLECTIVE FUND is a global impact grant introduced by GOT BAG, a German company that manufactures goods from recycled ocean plastic. It provides accessible, low-barrier funding for individuals and organisations working to protect ocean health and address climate change. The initiative is designed to support grassroots efforts worldwide, channelling resources to those engaged in on-the-ground work for communities, oceans, and the climate.
The fund is open to social enterprises, activists, and research projects, with the aim of pooling strengths to increase overall impact. Projects must align with at least one of three strategic pillars: Community of Care and Climate Resilience, Plastic Life Cycle, and Maritime Ecosystem. Through this grant, GOT BAG extends its environmental commitment beyond product development, offering direct financial support to change-makers globally.

How applications are assessed
Applications to the CARE COLLECTIVE FUND are scored on a transparent, points-based system, with a maximum of 62 points per submission. An internal jury carries out the evaluation, ensuring objectivity and consistency with GOT BAG's core values. The criteria cover global or local relevance, the ability to track or quantify impact, alignment with GOT BAG's values and code of conduct, scalability and longevity, the realism of the budget relative to expected outcomes, and geographic considerations.
Although applications from anywhere in the world are accepted, locally led initiatives receive preference, particularly those based in the Global South and regions with high plastic leakage, such as Southeast Asia and coastal Africa, including India.

We fund organisations and activists whose work aligns with our strategic pillars: Plastic Life Cycle, Maritime Ecosystem, Community of Care & Climate Resilience. We support social initiatives with a specific project lasting a maximum of 12 months.
How do you select?
Each application is scored on a points-based system, with a maximum of 62 points. An internal jury assesses submissions, aiming for objectivity and alignment with our core values.
What are the selection criteria?
We fund strategic partnerships that align with at least one of our systemic pillars—Plastic Life Cycle, Maritime Ecosystem, Community of Care & Climate Resilience—and are assessed on relevance, measurable impact, value alignment, scalability, longevity, and budget realism. Preference is given to locally led initiatives in the Global South and high-leakage regions such as Southeast Asia and coastal Africa.
What does the support look like?
The successful applicant receives €10,000, paid out in August 2026, following a kick-off call in July. The project may run for up to 12 months, with a progress report due in December 2026 and a final report by the project’s end or July 2027, whichever comes first.
Do you only fund projects in the Global South?
We fund climate justice work for vulnerable coastal communities in the Global South, alongside advocacy, research, and innovation in the Global North. Applications are accepted worldwide, with a preference—not a requirement—for projects in the Global South or high-leakage regions.
