NGO Funds India

Ford Foundation (India office)

Foreign foundation · Ford Foundation · New Delhi, Delhi

The Ford Foundation's India-Nepal-Sri Lanka regional office, funding civic engagement and gender/racial/ethnic justice work. FCRA registration is a hard prerequisite for Indian grantees.

About Ford Foundation (India office)

The Ford Foundation is a US-based grantmaking foundation with a regional office in New Delhi (Level 8, DLF Centre, Sansad Marg, New Delhi 110001) that covers India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The India programme concentrates on two primary areas: civic engagement and government, and gender, racial and ethnic justice.

Because the Foundation is a foreign source under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, any Indian NGO receiving Ford Foundation funds must hold a valid FCRA registration with the Ministry of Home Affairs — there is no legal path around this. Post the 2020 FCRA amendments, funds are received into an FCRA-designated account at State Bank of India, New Delhi Main Branch.
